Commercial Dredging Proposed at Morgan Falls
Georgia Power filed an application to allow a commercial dredging operation at the Morgan Falls Hydroelectric Project on the Chattahoochee River in Cobb and Fulton counties, Georgia. State Water Quality Review Required
A Clean Water Act section 401 water quality certificate may be required from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division for this dredging proposal. The applicant must file, no later than 60 days after issuance of this notice, either (1) a copy of the request for certification to the Georgia agency, or (2) a copy of the water quality certification or evidence that the certification was waived.
Public Comment Deadline September 22, 2025
Members of the public have until September 22, 2025 to file comments, protests, or motions to intervene on the proposed dredging at the Morgan Falls project. The Commission encourages electronic filing and allows brief comments up to 6,000 characters without registration via the eComment system.
