Rescinding the Grant Programs for Schools and Hospitals and Buildings Owned by Units of Local Government and Public Care Institutions Regulations
Published Date: 4/14/2026
Rule
Summary
The Department of Energy is officially wiping out old rules for grant programs that helped schools, hospitals, and local government buildings save energy. These rules haven’t been used since 1996 when the programs merged into a newer, simpler system. This cleanup won’t cut any funding or affect anyone but will make the State Energy Program easier to manage starting May 14, 2026.
