The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will prepare an environmental assessment (EA) for the Glencoe Mill Project on the Haw River in Alamance County, North Carolina. The EA is planned to be issued by September 14, 2026 and will be open for a 30-day public comment period after issuance, giving you a chance to submit comments, motions to intervene, or protests.

Possible Dam Removal and Park Donation

Preservation North Carolina owns the dam and mill race at the Glencoe Mill site and is considering working with American Rivers to remove the dam and donate the property as a public park. The exemptee (Glencoe Mill, LLC) said it will assist Preservation North Carolina in maintaining the mill race; these actions would affect the Haw River area adjoining the Alamance County public park.
