SEED Grant Competition Open to Institutions

Organizations including institutions of higher education, national nonprofits, the Bureau of Indian Education, or partnerships that include a for-profit can apply for SEED grants. Complete proposals must be submitted through Grants.gov by 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 1, 2026.

Funds Support Evidence-Based Educator Practices

The SEED program funds evidence-based practices that prepare, develop, or enhance educator skills and aims to increase the number of highly effective educators and boost student success. Grants will support developing, expanding, and evaluating practices that can be sustained and shared as models.

Competition Prioritizes AI and Career Readiness

The FY 2026 SEED competition includes competitive preference priorities for Returning Education to the States, Advancing Artificial Intelligence in Education, and Career Pathways and Workforce Readiness. Projects addressing these areas may receive a competitive preference in the grant review.

For-Profits Eligible as Partners Only

A for-profit entity is eligible for SEED funds only as part of a partnership that also includes one or more institutions of higher education or a national nonprofit. Standalone for-profit applicants are not listed as eligible.
