Maintains Safety and Energy Reliability
PHMSA says updating to ASTM F2767-24 will maintain or improve public safety and help increase national pipeline transportation capacity to provide abundant, reliable, affordable natural gas. The DFR becomes effective January 1, 2027, unless adverse comments are received by June 23, 2026.
New ASTM F2767-24 Rule for Pipeline Operators
If you operate or run a pipeline business, PHMSA is incorporating ASTM F2767-24 (approved July 1, 2024) into federal pipeline safety rules effective January 1, 2027. PHMSA says this will reduce regulatory confusion and compliance burden, and operators are authorized to comply after June 23, 2026.
