Yellowstone bison plan update

The National Park Service will prepare a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) to update the Yellowstone National Park Bison Management Plan Final EIS (2024). The SEIS will develop one or more new alternatives to respond to less predictable seasonal bison migration and reconsider management assumptions for Yellowstone (WY, MT, ID).

Analysis of brucellosis transmission

The SEIS will provide additional analysis on addressing brucellosis transmission between bison and livestock as part of bison management options. That analysis will be incorporated into new alternative(s) and will inform foreseeable effects of proposed actions in the Yellowstone region (WY, MT, ID).

Tribal trust responsibilities considered

The SEIS will include consideration of tribal trust responsibilities as part of updating the bison management plan. The NPS says it will work to fulfill tribal trust responsibilities while developing new alternatives.
