Foreign-built 12-passenger Vessel Under Review
You could be affected if you are a U.S. boat builder or a business that operates U.S.-built vessels. MARAD is considering whether to allow the foreign-built M/V SEA WARE to operate in U.S. coastwise trade carrying no more than 12 passengers, and it will decide if that use would have an adverse effect on U.S. vessel builders or coastwise trade businesses. Comments on this determination are due June 1, 2026.
Public Comment Opportunity and Confidentiality
You can submit comments to DOT Docket Number MARAD-2026-0666 about whether allowing the vessel would harm U.S. builders or coastwise businesses; comments must be submitted by June 1, 2026 via regulations.gov or mail. Comments will be posted publicly unless you request commercially confidential treatment by emailing MARAD and marking the submission as "Contains Confidential Commercial Information."
