Who qualifies for clothing allowance

You may qualify for an annual clothing allowance under 38 U.S.C. 1162 and 38 CFR 3.810 if, because of a service-connected disability, you wear or use a prosthetic or orthopedic appliance (including a wheelchair) that tends to wear out or tear clothing, or you use medication that causes irreparable damage to outer garments.

Form redesigned for easier use

VA Form 10-8678 (Application for Annual Clothing Allowance) has been redesigned to be clearer and easier to use, but the VA says the revised form will not take more time to fill out than before.

Time to apply: 10 minutes once a year

If you apply, the VA estimates the average burden is 10 minutes per respondent and the application is submitted once annually.
