Temporary 100‑Yard Safety Zone
On July 18, 2026, from 7 a.m. to noon, all people and vessels are prohibited from entering the navigable waters within a 100‑yard radius of the center span of the Mackinac Bridge unless the Captain of the Port (or designated representative) gives permission. If you need access, you must contact the Captain of the Port on VHF‑FM channel 16 or call (906) 635‑3237 to request authorization.
No Significant Small‑Business Impact; Advance Notice
The Coast Guard certified under 5 U.S.C. 605(b) that this proposed safety zone is not expected to have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities because vessel traffic can transit around the area and the rule affects only a small area for a few hours. The Coast Guard will issue a Broadcast Notice to Mariners on VHF‑FM channel 16 so mariners and businesses can adjust transit plans.
