Summary
From late May to early September 2026, the Coast Guard will set up a safety zone near Navy Pier in Chicago during weekly fireworks shows. Boats can’t enter or hang out in this zone during the fireworks unless they get special permission. This keeps everyone safe and the shows sparkling without interruptions!

Boats barred near Navy Pier fireworks
If you operate a boat near Navy Pier in Chicago, you cannot enter, transit, or anchor inside the Coast Guard safety zone during the fireworks unless you get permission from the Captain of the Port Lake Michigan or a designated representative. The Coast Guard will enforce this from 9:45 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. each Saturday (May 23, 2026–September 5, 2026) and from 8:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. each Wednesday (May 27, 2026–September 2, 2026).
