Return of Native American Remains
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign completed an inventory showing human remains representing at least 91 Native American individuals and 19 lots of associated funerary objects. The university identified a cultural affiliation with specific Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations named in the notice; those tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, or lineal descendants may request repatriation. Repatriation may occur on or after June 4, 2026, and requests must be sent to Krystiana Krupa at 601 E. John Street, Champaign, IL 61820 or by email to the address listed in the notice.
