Two Native Ceramic Ollas Returned
The Fowler Museum at UCLA intends to repatriate two ceramic ollas (one single‑necked and one double‑necked) that were collected circa 1904 near El Centro, California. The museum has determined these two objects are cultural patrimony with a cultural affiliation to the Quechan Tribe of the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation, California & Arizona, and repatriation may occur on or after June 4, 2026.
Who Can Request Repatriation
Any lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization not identified in this notice may submit a written request for repatriation if they show by a preponderance of the evidence that they are a lineal descendant or culturally affiliated. Send requests to Allison Fischer‑Olson, Fowler Museum at UCLA, Box 951549, Los Angeles, CA 90095‑1549, or email [email protected]; repatriation may occur on or after June 4, 2026. If competing requests are received, the Fowler Museum must determine the most appropriate requestor; joint requests are treated as a single request.
