Boaters Prohibited From Waters West of Airport

Starting June 8, 2026, all vessels and people may not enter the navigable waters directly west of the Cyril E. King Airport runway end unless the Captain of the Port (COTP) or their designated representative specifically authorizes entry. The safety zone covers waters within 400 yards from shore directly west of the runway and is bounded by the coordinates 18°20.286' N, -64°59.0214' W; 18°20.1156' N, -64°59.0238' W and the two private port authority yellow buoys at 18°20.288' N, -64°59.343' W; 18°20.116' N, -64°59.343' W. To request permission, contact the COTP at (787) 289-2041 or via VHF-FM channel 16; the zone is enforced at all times.

Coast Guard Certifies Minimal Small-Business Impact

The Coast Guard certifies this safety zone will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities. The rule notes vessel traffic can transit around the zone, the zone is limited to waters within 400 yards from shore directly west of the runway, and the Coast Guard will issue a Broadcast Notice to Mariners so small businesses can adjust transit plans or request permission to enter.
