Agencies Want to Keep Tracking Government Contract Payments for Years

Published Date: 5/13/2026

Notice

Summary

The government agencies in charge of buying stuff—like the Department of Defense, NASA, and others—are asking to keep collecting info about contract payments for three more years. They want your thoughts on how this info helps them work better and how to make it easier to share. If you’re involved in government contracts, this could affect how you report payment details, with no new costs but a chance to improve the process.

Contract Financing Collection Extended

The agencies ask OMB to extend approval for the contract financing information collection that is currently approved through October 31, 2026, for three additional years (i.e., through October 31, 2029). Comments on the extension will be considered if received by July 13, 2026.

Specific Payment Details Required

Under FAR clauses cited (52.232-28 through 52.232-32), offerors and contractors must provide detailed contract-financing data such as proposed contractual language for performance-based payments, listings of projected performance-based payment dates and amounts, projected delivery dates and payment amounts, itemized statements with supporting information for payment requests, and a certification by an authorized contractor official.

One Common Form for All Agencies

The General Services Administration is the sponsor of a common form that all executive agencies covered by the FAR will use for this contract-financing information. Each agency will report its own burden separately and those reports will be available on Reginfo.gov.
