Türkiye Cultural Import Ban Extended

If you collect, sell, import, or display certain cultural items from Türkiye, import restrictions continue until March 24, 2031. The rule takes effect May 13, 2026 and covers archaeological material dated about 1,200,000 B.C. to A.D. 1770 and ethnological material dated from the 1st century A.D. to A.D. 1923; imports remain restricted unless the conditions in 19 U.S.C. 2606 and 19 CFR 12.104c are met.

Enforcement Resumed May 13, 2026

Enforcement of the import restrictions had ended on March 24, 2026 in the absence of a final rule, and enforcement of the extension begins upon publication of this document (effective May 13, 2026). If you imported covered materials during the period after March 24, 2026 but before May 13, 2026, the rule states enforcement was not in effect until this publication.
