25-year Somali visa moratorium

If enacted, this bill would bar nationals of Somalia from getting a U.S. visa or any immigration status for 25 years after enactment. The ban would not apply to people lawfully admitted before enactment or to lawful permanent residents. It would also not apply to nonimmigrant travelers holding valid A-1, A-2, C-2, C-3, G-1, G-2, G-3, or G-4 visas. The Secretary of State, in coordination with the Secretary of Homeland Security, would be the only officials allowed to approve other exceptions.

Withholding-of-removal ban for Somalis

If enacted, this bill would make any citizen or national of Somalia ineligible for withholding-of-removal relief under section 241(b)(3) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This change would take effect upon enactment. It would remove that specific form of protection for Somali nationals who are facing removal or seeking that relief.
