Raising awareness for the sarcoma cancer chordoma.
Sponsored By: Representative Johnson (GA)
Introduced
Summary
This resolution would raise awareness and urge increased funding and support for chordoma patients and research. Chordoma is a rare, slow-growing but aggressive bone cancer of the skull and spine that affects people of all ages. Worldwide prevalence exceeds 25,000 and about 300 people are diagnosed in the United States each year. Surgeries or radiation can be curative for some, but recurrence rates are high and no drugs are known to cure or effectively control the disease after those options fail. The resolution calls for better and earlier diagnosis, development of new treatments and diagnostics, fewer hurdles between research and new treatments, and patient-centered approaches to drug discovery and development.
