Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Better local emergency alerts on public radio

The law provides a one-time $600,000 in fiscal year 2026-27 to the Maine Public Broadcasting Corporation. The money buys broadcast equipment to localize public safety information and emergency alerts on the statewide public radio network. Funds are one-time and must be used for this upgrade.

Move $600,000 to the General Fund

The state transfers $600,000 from the Attorney General’s settlement special-revenue account to the General Fund’s unappropriated surplus. The transfer must occur no later than June 30, 2027. It is a one-time move and does not create a new benefit or fee for households.
