State fund backs health data exchange
The law creates a Health Information Technology Fund in the Department of Health and Human Services. It pays to run and sustain the state‑designated statewide health information exchange. The Department must manage the fund to maximize federal matching dollars. The fund can take state, federal, grant, gift, and private money; interest stays in the fund; and unspent money carries to the next year. The state provides a one‑time $350,000 General Fund appropriation in fiscal year 2026–27 to this fund. The State Controller also transfers $350,000 from an Attorney General settlement account to the General Fund by June 30, 2027.
