Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

AI agreements that ease rules for businesses

The law lets the Office and a relevant agency make agreements with a participant to allow AI use even if a rule would block it. The agreement can set a cure period before penalties, require reports and safeguards, and reduce civil fines during the demonstration period. The demonstration period is the time the agreement is in effect. You count as a participant only if you seek or hold one of these agreements.

Foundational definitions for Utah’s AI rules

The law sets common definitions for artificial intelligence and AI technology. It also defines which public bodies count as governmental entities and who can act for them. It names the Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy and the Learning Laboratory program. These definitions decide what systems and institutions the AI rules cover.
