Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Equal insurer pay for mobile mammograms

Beginning January 1, 2027, insurers must pay an approved mobile mammography unit the same rate they pay for in‑network mammograms done in other settings. This applies when the screening is done in a rural county by an approved mobile unit under the law’s coverage rules.

Rural mobile mammograms covered; limits apply

Beginning January 1, 2027, health plans that cover mammograms also cover a screening done by an approved mobile unit in a rural Utah county. The unit must be approved by an FDA‑designated accreditor, and the county must be class 3, 4, 5, or 6. The unit must follow the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force age and timing rules. For these covered mobile screenings, the unit must accept the plan payment plus your normal cost sharing as full payment and cannot bill you extra.
