Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Bereavement training counts for health workers

Beginning May 6, 2026, the state offers optional training on supporting families after pregnancy or infant loss. Health workers in emergency care, OB/GYN, and labor and delivery can take it. This training counts toward required continuing education credits. It is optional, not a new mandate.

Hospitals must support parents after loss

Beginning May 6, 2026, hospitals and birth centers must follow bereavement rules after pregnancy or infant loss. The rules can require memory-making, grief counseling, and referrals to support groups. They can also require access to a cooling device when appropriate, and time and space with the infant. Facilities must follow these rules to get or keep a license.

Law takes effect May 6, 2026

The law takes effect on May 6, 2026. That date starts the new bereavement rules and training options.
