Stronger retaliation protections for public workers

Beginning May 6, 2026, covered public employees get stronger anti-retaliation rules. A complaint your employer makes about you to a licensing board counts as retaliation. Threats to fire you, cut your pay, deny a promised raise, or block a promotion also count. Threats to make that kind of licensing complaint count too. You can use the grievance process to report retaliation or intolerable, abusive working conditions.
