The Education Interim Committee reviews key school programs every five years. Reviews start July 1, 2027 for Concurrent Enrollment and student support programs. Reviews start July 1, 2028 for Teacher and Student Success and Digital Teaching and Learning. Reviews start July 1, 2029 for Dual Language Immersion. This schedule increases regular oversight of these programs.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the state board studies school software and digital services. It checks academic value, alignment to standards, active versus passive use, and student safety and privacy. It reviews data collection and sharing, ads or commercial use, and addictive design or engagement-driven algorithms. The board may consult teachers, LEAs, parents, researchers, and technology providers. Before July 1, 2027, it publishes guidance on its website and sends it to every LEA. If asked, it reports the study and guidance to the Education Interim Committee.
