New Utah sleep health education program

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah’s Division of Population Health runs a sleep health education program. It makes and shares materials on narcolepsy (types 1 and 2), idiopathic hypersomnia, obstructive and central sleep apnea, and circadian rhythm sleep disorders. The goal is to raise awareness, spot early signs, and promote diagnosis. It encourages proven treatment and needed medications. It teaches providers, educators, and the public how to screen and manage these conditions. It also works to reduce stigma. The program explains safety risks from untreated sleep problems at work and while driving. The division can partner with insurers, provider groups, schools, community health programs, Workforce Services, and Transportation to share the materials. This act includes no new funding.
