Utah health plans must cover anesthesia

Utah-regulated health benefit plans must cover medically necessary anesthesia for any covered procedure. Plans must pay even if the anesthesia lasts a long time. Plans cannot deny payment only because the care went past a preset time limit. This applies to plan contracts entered into or renewed on or after January 1, 2027. The act takes effect May 6, 2026.
