Retired government workers keep annuity at UVI
The law lets retirees who get a GERS annuity return to work at the University of the Virgin Islands and keep their annuity for up to six years while also earning a salary. You must be enrolled in an alternative retirement system while employed by UVI. Covered roles include faculty and medical education; leaders and operations staff in the medical simulation center, medical school, or biomedical facility; educators in medical simulation, biomedical, or robotics; and grant writers. The Legislature reviews the program in the third year after enactment and may allow longer extensions.
