New makeup of Wisconsin Nursing Board
The law changes who sits on the Wisconsin Board of Nursing. The board has three licensed registered nurses, one licensed practical nurse, one certified advanced practice nurse prescriber, one nurse educator, one nurse who may be an RN or LPN, and two public members. RN members must be graduates of professional nursing programs. Practical nurse members must be graduates of state‑accredited practical nursing programs. Members serve staggered four‑year terms. As two current RN terms end first after the law’s effective date, those seats are filled by one APRN prescriber and one nurse educator. This reduces RN seats from five to three and adds fixed seats for an APRN prescriber and a nurse educator.
