Same-day notice to parents about staff sexual misconduct
Schools must tell parents or guardians by day’s end when they receive a credible report of alleged staff sexual misconduct. They must notify the parents of each student alleged to be a victim, target, or recipient. This applies to public school boards, charter school operators, and private school governing bodies. For public and charter schools, the clock starts when a licensed employee under PI 34.066 or 34.067 gets the report. At private schools, it starts when an assistant principal, a principal, or an administrator under s.118.60(1)(ad) receives it. Sexual misconduct includes intentional sexual communications or touching, as defined in state law.
Yearly notice on access to discipline records
Each year, every public school board must tell parents and guardians how to get school employee discipline records. The notice must describe your rights under the state public records law (subchapter II of chapter 19).
