Written consent for teaching pelvic exams

The law requires Wisconsin hospitals to get written consent before doing a pelvic exam only for teaching while a patient is under anesthesia or unconscious. Consent must come from the patient before the exam. Hospitals must keep written policies and procedures that enforce this consent rule. This protects patients’ right to control their bodies.
