The law lets school buses record audio, video, or both inside the bus during student trips to and from school and activities. A district can do this only if the school board adopts a policy, tells students and parents, and posts a clear notice inside the bus. Recordings are confidential. Only school officials and police may use them for investigations, school discipline, or criminal cases about incidents on or around the bus. The law does not require any district to install cameras.
