When a case is covered by the special rule in this chapter, the pay rules in sections 908 and 909 of title 33 must be used instead of the benefits in subchapter I of chapter 81 of title 5, except for medical care. Total payments for an injury or death cannot be more than the limit set in section 914(m) of title 33 as changed, but they cannot be less than the amount first set when this chapter was created. The rules in sections 906 and 910 of title 33 are used to figure payments. The minimums in section 906(b) and section 909(e) do not apply.
