If you operate a vessel, you may not enter, anchor in, transit, or remain in the Parade Regulated Area (the Thimble Shoal Channel route to Town Point Reach) during enforcement from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 19, 2026, unless the Captain of the Port (COTP) or a designated representative authorizes you.
Fireworks zones off-limits at night
If you operate a vessel on the Elizabeth River, you are prohibited from entering, anchoring in, transiting, or remaining within the Fireworks Regulated Area from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on June 19 and June 20, 2026, with an alternate weather day on June 21, 2026, unless authorized by the COTP or a designated representative.
Tall Ship anchoring buffer enforced
If you approach the Tall Ship Staging Area (Anchorage B and Lynnhaven Anchorage), you may not come within 25 yards of any anchored Sail250 Tall Ship while the staging area is enforced from 6 a.m. on June 16, 2026 until 2:30 p.m. on June 19, 2026, unless authorized by the COTP or a designated representative.
Large moving safety buffer during parade transit
During the Tall Ship Parade transit on June 19, 2026, participating tall ships will be protected by a moving buffer zone extending 1,000 yards ahead, 50 yards abeam, and 50 yards astern; non-participants must stay clear and any parading non-registered participants must follow behind the last registered participant.
Designated spectator anchorages; some anchorages closed
Vessels intending to watch the events will be directed into spectator anchorages C, E, F, and N; Anchorage G-3 and G-4 may not be used for any reason during the Parade of Sail on June 19, 2026.
Operational rules and safety requirements for vessels
During enforcement periods you must follow lawful orders from the COTP or designated representatives, contact them on VHF channel 16 or 877-722-5727 for permission to transit, exhibit required anchoring lights, not leave vessels unattended, not tie to aids to navigation, and keep at least 20 feet when maneuvering between vessels.

The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary special local regulation (SLR) for certain waters of the North East River, near North East, MD. This action is necessary to provide for the safety of life on these navigable waters during a power boat racing event on September 12, 2026 (Rain date: September 13, 2026). This regulation prohibits persons and vessels from entering the regulated area unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port Sector Maryland- National Capital Region or their designated representative.
