Adds 6.03M tonnes/year LNG Capacity

On May 26, 2026 Rio Grande LNG Train 6 filed to add another liquefaction train and a new marine jetty at the Rio Grande LNG terminal in Cameron County, Texas. The project would add approximately 6.03 million tonnes per year of LNG production capacity and increase authorized LNG carrier visits to 510 per year (Docket No. CP26-532-000).

90-Day Environmental Review or Schedule

Pursuant to FERC rules, within 90 days of this notice staff will either complete the environmental review and place it in the public record or issue a Notice of Schedule for Environmental Review that will set milestones and an anticipated date for the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) or environmental assessment (EA). When the FEIS or EA is issued, federal and state agencies must complete required federal authorizations within 90 days of the date of issuance.

Deadline to Intervene: June 30, 2026

If you want to become a party in this FERC proceeding you must file a motion to intervene by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on June 30, 2026. Intervenors have the right to request rehearing of Commission orders and to challenge those orders in the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal; there is no fee to file.

Section 401 Water Quality Certification Needed

The applicant stated a water quality certificate under Clean Water Act section 401 is required from the Railroad Commission of Texas for the project; Rio Grande LNG Train 6 must submit a copy of the request and then either (1) the certifying agency's decision or (2) evidence of waiver to FERC.
