Military Spouse Job Priority Checklist
If you are a military spouse applying for appropriated-fund GS-15 or below (or equivalent) jobs at Department of Defense activities in the U.S. or U.S. territories and possessions, you must complete the Military Spouse Priority Placement Program Self-Certification Checklist to receive priority consideration for appointment. This checklist is used by gaining DoD activities to certify your preference eligibility for possible appointment into their vacancy.
Mandatory 30-Minute Form Burden
Completing the required self-certification checklist is mandatory and is estimated to take about 30 minutes per respondent. The Department estimates 277,448 respondents annually, for a total of 138,724 annual burden hours.
Document Proof Required for Priority
To get priority consideration, military spouses must provide evidence of appointment eligibility and evidence of marriage to a current active-duty U.S. Armed Forces member (including U.S. Coast Guard and full-time National Guard or Military Reservist) with a copy of the permanent-change-of-station orders. Gaining DoD activities will use these documents to certify preference eligibility.
