Generator Rehab Raises Capacity

PacifiCorp proposes to rehabilitate one turbine at the Ashton Hydroelectric Project to improve efficiency and increase nameplate capacity from 6.7 megawatts (MW) to a maximum of 7.58 MW. The application for an exemption from licensing was filed December 16, 2025.

Project Remains Run‑of‑River

PacifiCorp proposes to continue operating the Ashton Project in a run-of-river mode, with outflow from the project approximating inflow. The environmental document will evaluate effects of operation and maintenance on aquatic, recreation, and related resources.

Boat Launch and Fishing Access Continue

The project includes the Ashton Boat Launch (motorized boat ramp, non-motorized take-out ramp, floating courtesy docks, a two-stall vault toilet, picnic tables, and parking) and a Tailwater Access site for shoreline fishing and picnicking; PacifiCorp will continue to implement its Recreation Facilities and Site Management Plan.

Annual Trout Stocking Continues

PacifiCorp proposes to work with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game to continue annual trout stocking at the Ashton Hydroelectric Project.
