The FAA is asking for your thoughts on renewing a form that tracks important airplane maintenance and repairs to keep flying safe. Form 337: 1-hour maintenance filing

If you own or work on general aviation aircraft, you must complete FAA Form 337 after major repairs or alterations. Each Form 337 takes about 1 hour to complete; 76,253 Form 337s were submitted in 2024, which is about one in every five of the 438,651 general aviation aircraft registered.

Owners must retain maintenance records

Aircraft owners are responsible for keeping other maintenance records (preventive maintenance and logbook entries) themselves; those records are not collected by the FAA and must be kept for verification of airworthiness when seeking approval or sale of the aircraft.
