Safety zones set for July fireworks
The Coast Guard will enforce safety zones for multiple Northern California and Lake Tahoe fireworks events occurring July 1–4, 2026. During displays the regulated areas expand from a 100-foot radius during loading/transit to display-radius zones that range up to 1,000 feet (examples: 1,000-foot for San Francisco, Sausalito, Benicia; 700-foot for Crescent City; 560-foot for Richmond and Martinez).
No-entry rule and patrol compliance
While the safety zones are enforced, unauthorized persons or vessels are prohibited from entering, transiting through, or remaining in the regulated areas, and vessel operators must comply with directions from the Patrol Commander or any Official Patrol displaying a Coast Guard ensign.
Coast Guard will broadcast entry and timing info
The Coast Guard will provide notice of enforcement via the Local Notice to Mariners and marine information broadcasts. If the Captain of the Port determines a regulated area need not be enforced for the full stated duration, a Broadcast Notice to Mariners may grant general permission to enter the regulated area.
