Three‑Year Extension of FERC Recordkeeping

FERC is extending the FERC-555 recordkeeping requirements for three more years with no changes. The rules apply to electric utilities, licensees, natural gas companies, and oil pipeline companies subject to FERC jurisdiction and require retention of records such as Corporate; Information Technology Management; General Accounting; Personnel and Payroll; Tariffs and Rates; Operations and Maintenance; Tax; Treasury; and other listed categories.

Quantified Annual Compliance Burden

FERC estimates 667 respondents will each incur 5,218 hours and $532,236 in annual industry cost, for a total annual burden of 3,480,406 hours and $355,001,412 in industry cost under the FERC-555 collection.

Records Subject to Audits, Enforcement, and Analysis

FERC may use the retained records during required rate filings, compliance reviews by audit staff, enforcement investigations by enforcement staff, and for special analyses (for example, responses to extreme weather events). Covered companies should expect these records to be available for such uses.
