Charter Re-established July 17, 2026

If you live in a rural community, the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services (NACRHHS) was re-established effective July 17, 2026 and is authorized to operate through July 17, 2028. The committee is set up to provide advice to the Secretary of HHS on how HHS programs serve rural areas during that period.

Committee Budget and Member Pay

The NACRHHS has an annual budget of $492,358, including 1.5 Federal full-time equivalent (FTE) staff, $285,358 in other federal internal costs, proposed payments to members of $27,000, and reimbursable costs of $30,000, with a proposed membership of 15. These amounts are the authorized costs associated with running the committee during the charter period.

Public Input via Site Visits and Reports

The committee will provide advice and recommendations to the Secretary, produce reports and policy briefs, and include several in-person site visits to rural health and human service providers and tribes so rural communities can share local challenges and perspectives directly with HHS. The committee is staffed by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy and coordinates with multiple federal agencies.
