MEP Board Reserves Seats for Small Manufacturers
The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Advisory Board must include at least 10 members and, among them, at least 5 members shall be from U.S. small businesses in the manufacturing sector and at least 1 member must represent a community college. Board members serve three-year terms and serve in a Representative capacity (not as SGEs).
Advisory Roles Are Unpaid but Travel Reimbursed
If you are appointed to any of these NIST advisory committees, you will not receive a salary for serving, but you may, upon request, be allowed travel and per diem expenses in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 5701 et seq. Committee meeting frequency varies by committee (for example, at least once per year or quarterly).
Special Government Employee Ethics Requirements
Many non‑Federal members will serve as Special Government Employees (SGEs) and must complete ethics training and file an annual confidential financial disclosure report (OGE Form 450) and comply with the Standards of Ethical Conduct (5 CFR part 2635).
ISPAB Seeks Small/Medium Company Representatives
The Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB) will include 12 members plus a Chair (13 total), and the Board must include at least one member who is representative of small- or medium-sized companies in the information technology industry. ISPAB terms are four years.
Nominations Accepted Ongoing — No Deadline
NIST will accept nominations for all seven Committees on an ongoing basis and will consider them as vacancies arise, so you can nominate yourself or others anytime rather than by a fixed deadline.
