Arkansas SNAP: Certain Drinks and Candy Blocked

If you receive SNAP benefits in Arkansas, the State asked to change what counts as grocery ‘food’ so that you could not buy soda, low- and no-calorie soda, fruit and vegetable drinks with less than 50% natural juice, other unhealthy drinks, and candy with SNAP. The State formally requested the project on April 15, 2025, modified that request on May 5, 2026, requested implementation on July 1, 2026, and FNA approved the initial request on June 10, 2025.
