721 acres added to Pala Reservation
The Tribe must transfer title to about 721.12 acres in San Diego County within 180 days of enactment. The Secretary of the Interior then must take the land into trust within 180 days after the transfer. The land becomes part of the Pala Indian Reservation and is managed under the usual federal trust rules. The law does not change any preexisting tribal land claims, water rights, or access rights-of-way.
No casino gaming on new trust land
The Tribe cannot conduct gaming on the land taken into trust under this law. This applies to tribal authority and to federal gaming law, including the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The ban takes effect upon enactment.
