- Museum visitors and educators would see items gathered under five categories, including Interior Department signage tied to Executive Order 14416, self-portrait banners from January 20, 2025 through January 20, 2029, images and videos, personal narratives of resistors, and other historically significant materials. The exhibit must include accompanying signage with a specified message naming themes such as Know-Nothingism, white supremacy, the Lost Cause, McCarthyism, and Trump's Big Lie.
- The Secretary of the Interior, acting through the National Park Service, would remove any signage along NPS-maintained sidewalks that was posted without Congressional authorization under Executive Order 14416. If unauthorized signage remains, the NPS must post an equal-sized sign bearing the seal of the United States Congress with explanatory text directing readers to the museum exhibit.
- The bill would provide $5 million to the Smithsonian Institution to carry out these collections and displays, funds that remain available until expended.
*This bill would increase federal spending by $5 million to support the Smithsonian's creation and maintenance of the exhibit.*
