No More Funding for NPR Act of 2025
Sponsored By: Representative Strong, Dale W. [R-AL-5]
Introduced
Summary
Bans federal funding for National Public Radio and any successor organization. This bill would bar the direct or indirect use of federal funds to support NPR, including payments of dues or purchases of programming by public stations that use federal grants. It would permanently rescind unobligated federal funds that would have gone to NPR for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. A narrow exception lets Federal Emergency Management Agency funds be used only to share urgent public safety information during disaster response.

Stop federal money to NPR
If enacted, this bill would stop federal money from going to National Public Radio and any successor group. Public stations that get federal funds could not use those funds to pay dues to or buy programs from NPR. It would also permanently take back any unspent federal amounts that would have gone to NPR for fiscal years 2025 and 2026. There would be a narrow exception while FEMA is actively responding to a disaster, and only to share urgent public safety information. The bill defines the covered group as NPR (as of enactment) and any successor organization.
