Introduced
Summary
Expedited access for Members of Congress to military installations. This bill would add a new section to Title 10 requiring the Secretary of Defense to create procedures that let a current Member of Congress present a valid House or Senate ID and receive prompt access to certain military installations in the United States and Guam. Congressional employees, as defined in 5 U.S.C. 2107(5), accompanying the Member would receive the same access. The bill would forbid rules that require Members or their staff to schedule access before arrival and covers sites where a Department of Defense common access card is normally the only entry requirement.

Faster base access for Congress members
This bill would require the Defense Department to set procedures for quick entry to certain military bases. A Member of Congress could enter by showing a valid House or Senate ID that proves they are a current Member. Congressional employees who go with the Member would get the same access. The procedures could not force the Member or staff to schedule the visit before arriving. These rules would apply only at installations in the United States or Guam where a DoD common access card is normally the only requirement for service members. "Congressional employees" would mean those who meet the federal definition.
