Cameras in the Courtroom Act
Sponsored By: Representative Connolly, Gerald E. [D-VA-11]
Introduced
Summary
Authorizes television coverage of Supreme Court open sessions while protecting parties' due process rights. This bill would add section 678 to Title 28 to require the Court to permit TV coverage of all open sessions unless a majority of the justices determine that coverage in a particular case would violate one or more parties' due process rights. It also creates the short title "Cameras in the Courtroom Act" and updates the chapter analysis to list the new section.
