Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Congressional Gold Medal Act

Sponsored By: Representative Beyer, Donald S. [D-VA-8]

Introduced

Summary

Congressional Gold Medal honoring Joan Trumpauer Mulholland would recognize her lifelong commitment to civil rights, from sit-ins and work with SNCC and CORE to decades spent as an educator and civil rights ambassador. The bill would direct the Secretary of the Treasury to strike a gold medal, allow the Speaker and President pro tempore to arrange presentation to Mulholland or, if unavailable, her son Loki Mulholland, permit sale of bronze duplicates to cover production costs, designate the medals as national and numismatic items, and charge the costs to the U.S. Mint Public Enterprise Fund with proceeds deposited back into that fund.
