Sponsored By: Representative Steube, W. Gregory [R-FL-17]
In Committee
Summary
Stops federal funding for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority until the WMATA Compact is amended to rename the agency the Washington Metropolitan Authority for Greater Access and to rename the Metrorail the Trump Train. The bill conditions all Federal support for WMATA on that single renaming amendment and does not provide any replacement funding, phase-in, or sunset.

DC Metro funds blocked until renaming
This bill would stop all federal money to the DC Metro (WMATA). Funds would stay blocked until the regional compact is changed to rename the agency to "Washington Metropolitan Authority for Greater Access" and the rail system to the "Trump Train." There is no phase-in, workaround, or end date. If enacted, riders and local governments could face service cuts, higher fares, or delayed repairs.
