Vicksburg National Military Park Boundary Modification Act

Sponsored By: Representative Thompson, Bennie G. [D-MS-2]

Became Law

Summary

Transfers two small Federal parcels in Vicksburg National Military Park to the State of Mississippi to improve public access and the visitor experience. The law directs the Secretary of the Interior to convey, by quitclaim deed and without consideration, two Federal parcels of about 1.69 acres and 5.74 acres. The Secretary will modify the Park boundary to exclude the conveyed land. The land must be used to facilitate public access and to enhance the visitor experience consistent with the Park's interpretative mission. The parcels may carry use restrictions the Secretary deems appropriate and must not be used in ways that adversely impact Park resources or the visitor experience.
